How To Care For Your Eco Friendly Yoga Mat
|An eco friendly yoga mat is a tool used to provide comfort and stability in the practice of yoga as a system of exercise. These mats are often used to practice Yoga, all you do is spread them out and your all set. You would want to maximize the lifespan and comfort because they can cost a lot of money sometimes. For cost-efficiency, safety, and comfort, users will need to take some steps to take care of their mats.
New mats often feel too slippery and have rubbery scents. With time and use the rubber smell will fade, but if this is bothersome to you, try air-drying the mat. The gunk that forms after manufacturing the mat causes a slippery feeling. This residue consequently comes off with continuous use, so after several sessions it shouldn’t be any trouble. Use a solution of mild detergent plus water to wipe it off quickly, or you can use vinegar and water for the same effect. In order to avoid soap scum to build up on the mat only use a small amount of detergent. You can also leave the mat outside in the sun for a shirt amount of time to get rid of the smell and slippery oil residue.
With long periods of use, an eco friendly yoga mat will eventually become soiled. Use water and a towel after spraying the top to wipe off the gunk if there is only a light coating of it. Washing your mat is one way you can help remove more set-in stains and soiling. Unfortantly this mats are not machine washable, so you will have to wash them by hand. You can use a small amount of detergent or household cleanser to a container mixed with cold water. To avoide excessive wear on the mat, scrub lightly when cleaning with the solution. Scrub your mat and make sure you rinse it well to avoid any soap build up. If your sweat tends to mix with the soap it can make the mat slippery sometimes. Seeing as this could make using the mat uncomfortable and dangerous, rinsing should be done properly.
To dry a mat, just hang it up. You can use a towel to speed up the drying process if you are short of time. Simply place a towel on the mat and roll it up together. You can now step on the mat, which will squeeze out the rest of the water for absorption by a towel. Unroll it and hang them to dry. This shouldn’t take long since the water has spread out.
Lastly, rolling an eco friendly yoga mat for storage should be done with the used surface outside. Upon unrolling it for usage these steps will keep the corners flat. It is important to prevent microorganism from growing so store it in a cool dry area.
